  1. Create a Morning Routine

Start small - make your bed or turn on one of your favourite playlists. I find my mornings to be my biggest challenge, but once I started making the small changes to my everyday routine I started to notice my mornings to be less daunting. ** Pro-tip -Just hop into the shower (not hot)I find this helps a lot with just getting my body going.

  2. Get Dressed

This is one of my favourite tips - sitting in the same clothes you slept in is kind of a mind fuck. I can honestly say I do nothing productive in my PJ’s.

  3. Drink Water Before Coffee!

Lately, being home all the time I am sure a lot of us are feeling much more anxious. I started to eliminate the NEED for morning coffee. I found this to be a negative habit - I now make sure I have a glass of water before anything, sure add lemon if you’d like.

  4. Make a List

Writing down everything you have to do for the day is so important. You can even break it down into categories such as; work, home, and leisure. Adding in daily. goals are also key - something as simple as “Today I would like to monitor my water intake”

  5. Curate an Office Space

Depending on your space, this is crucial - I live in a 300 sq ft studio apartment so dividing my space has been tricky. Even though my desk is my kitchen table, I made the change in ensuring the table is facing away from my bed. I find this to be extremely helpful when you need to do a deep dive into emails.

  6. Take a Break

Just because you are working from home does not mean you need to work harder, just smarter. Schedule your breaks at least an hour for lunch and two 15 minutes. You can use an app, such as TimeOut for Mac and Smart Break for Windows, to lock yourself out of your computer for 60 minutes. Or you can just launch a simple clock or timer on the screen when you take a break. If you return to your desk after only 40 minutes, walk away for another 20.

  7. Get out of the house

Of course follow all safety precautions - but get out daily! This is also a great time to call your family or a friend!

  8. Take advantage of Facetime

Now is the time to completely take advantage of technology.

  9. Don't Be Too Hard on Yourself

Okay… so you didn’t check everything off your list today, but at least you made the list! It takes about 22 days to make the changes stick keep trying tomorrow.

  10. End Your Day With a Routine

Treat yourself, give yourself something to look forward to every day. I take a bath and make an effort to not binge my shows on the weekend so I have something to watch at night.
